宴会中にメール - Writing e-mail messages at a party

宴会中にしょっちゅうPCやケータイを取り出してメールを書く人物がいる。よほど多忙なのか無礼なのかと思っていたのだが、どうやら参加者の女性にこっそり連絡するためにケータイメールを活用しているらしい。なんでわざわざ宴会中にメール書くかなぁと思ってたのだが、それなら納得である。変な行動には必ず理由が存在する。
One of my friends is having a habit of writing e-mail messages while drinking at a party. Many people use mobile phones everywhere, but he opens up his note PC in a drinking place and writes e-mail messages. I was always wondering how busy he was, or also wondering if he was actually a very rude guy.
After a while, I finally noticed why he always did this... he was actually writing e-mail messages to one of the ladies in the party, saying that he wanted to leave the party with her. That makes sense, doesn't it?

似た手口は昔からあったのだろうが、ケータイの普及によりこういうことが実に簡単になったわけである。自分にメールして着信音を鳴らすことによって会議から逃げだすという手口もあるし、ケータイの機能が増えるにつれてややこしい使い方も増えるんだろう。
Similar techniques must have existed from the ancient age, but with contemporary devices like mobile phones, many strange new techniques will surely be invented.
